Sleeping Beauty and Red Riding Hood

I didn't post anything yesterday due to my job. I got off at 11:30 p.m. And went to sleep around midnight.

I want to write a bit about one of my stories, Sleeping Beauty and Red Riding Hood. The reason I wanted to do my own take on them was due to one of my Disney Sprees. I watched Sleeping Beauty and found that it made Aurora and Philip look like idiots. (I still love the show and Disney!!!) so I got to thinking about it and I realized that I could make this work with a bit of Red Riding Hood mixed in!

At the time I was reading "Red Riding Hood" by Catherine Hardwicke (the one made into a movie)

I do recommend this book and movie! Go watch and read! The movie has Amanda Seyfried in it and the posters look like this:

I thought to make Aurora Little Red!

I wanted to get in touch with the characters in my version. My friend is in a creative writing class at the moment and she was telling me how they started to write a story. She put all of her main character's attributes and personality traits down on paper and then wrote about something that would throw them off guard - something they would struggle with.

I decided that I should try that with my own stories. A bit of background about the story:

The main character is a girl named Aura (Aurora) who lives with her uncle Casey (the three fairies). Prince Philip is still Philip and Malificent is Morgana. Morgana is Aura's aunt and is a witch who gained her powers from the witches in the north and that means she is color blind to a specific color. In her case, the color is red. The witches are also very keen to one color as well. That color is blue.

This being known, Casey makes Aura wear something red all the time to hopefully shield her. She is given a red cloak with a hood and she wears it all the time. Therefore, Little Red Riding Hood comes into play. I still need to elaborate more on that part of the story but I do have wolves playing a huge part in the story. They live in the forest surrounding the village where Aura lives and they can see blue as well as Morgana. (The wolves are hers).

I made a list of personality traits and attributes for Aura, Philip, Casey and Morgana.

Aura - tall and skinny. turning 18. Long blond curly hair. Pale. Bright blue eyes. Stubborn and rebelious. Strong hearted. Definately has a ruling thumb. Favorite color is blue. Friends with everyone but is a slight introvert. Is always thinking. Is not hurt easily. Wants freedom.

Philip - Tall and lanky but built. Turning 19. Shaggy red hair. Dark green eyes. A bit of freckles. Pale. Very generous and is always trying to help. Very likable. Always smiles. Friends with many different people. An extrovert and is excellent in kissing up to people. Always tries to get on with girls.

Casey - tall. 40 years old. Tan. Dark, shaggy, unkempt hair and a bit of facial scruff. Brown eyes. Chisled chin. Very strict and is all about rules and laws. Loving but barely shows it. "The peoples man." Knows everyone in village and helps everyone out if possible.

Morgana - tall and very thin. 43 years old but seems 20. Jet black hair down to her waist. Black eyes. Pale. Loves attention and always wants for more than shes given. Stubborn and rebelious. Doesnt want to follow rules other than her own. Will do anything to get her way. Wants freedom.

In the movie Sleeping Beauty, there is an ongoing fight between the color Pink and Blue. I personally like the blue dress better and I thought to play this in as well. So, ever since Aura was little, her favorite color has been blue. When she becomes princess again, she will wear a blue dress and will have a hard time parting with the cloak. The cloak will turn pink after a while and therefore give the people the impression that she always wears pink.

Here is a few more pictures...

Her dress...

And her hair!

With the cloak on she will resemble this but with blond hair...

Something along these lines is how the story will go! I still don't have a title but it will come eventually!
